The SAIC is a group of rock & roll Proto-punk and Peru formed in 1964 in Lima. Despite its short existence, was one of the most successful of its time. It was the first South American band to record only their own composicionesy one of the first to write their own songs in English. They had a visceral style but also fun. In the singles the best known is "Demolition", which has become an anthem of punk Peru (although the funny thing is that punk as a genre appeared ten years later), and which is currently played by various bands (as has its own voice, Phaco & their Pibinhos of Varsobia and Leusemia, among the most representative). Over time the group has acquired a reputation of being mysterious and underground, although at the time appeared on every radio and television programs locales.Los SAIC was the first band to kick off the punk genre title that is played with The Trashmen Surfin due to its single 'Bird was released a year before the creation of the Peruvian band.
The best known version is that the group's original name was "sadistic", which subsequently changed Saicos because the original could be very offensive. Another reason is often argued that Saico sounded like Psycho, which was the name of Alfred Hitchcock's film. But according to members of the band, that was not the origin of the name. The word "SAIC" would be a scream "indicates that we must continue with all forward, thrust is a call indicating that you have to go all positively and without anything to stop us, that is to be a" SAIC " be someone who is not afraid of anything. "[3] The name would have been idea for Erwin Flores.

In the interview guitarist Rolando Carpio granted the fanzine Basement Beat in 2003 that the name of the group also responded to the inspiration of Seiko watches, which at that time, the mid-60's had much impact among young Peruvians. History
